Thanksgiving can bring a mix of joy and stress, especially when it comes to food and being around family. That’s why I want to remind you of something important: you deserve to enjoy the day, stress-free.
Here’s my simple advice for Thanksgiving eating:
- Savor what you love. If it’s delicious, take your time and enjoy it. If it’s not quite hitting the spot, it’s okay to leave it behind.
- Listen to your body. Eating to the point of discomfort can take away from the joy of the day. But if you do overindulge? No big deal. Take care of yourself and move on—one meal doesn’t define your health.
- Let go of guilt. Food is a part of life’s celebrations. It’s not about being “perfect” all the time because that isn’t real. Food is emotional, food is comfort and food is a love language.
- Minimize your stress. I know this is easier said than done. Whether it’s food or family stress, remember: stress and digestion don’t mix. So, choose joy—in your food and your company!
My philosophy is simple: the habits you build over the long term matter more than one day. So, give yourself permission to relax, enjoy your favorites, and soak up the time with loved ones.
